Every summer my garden produces more zucchini and squash than any reasonable person could possibly eat fresh. This year was no exception.
I had dozens of various sized zucchini and Italian squash that needed to be dealt with quickly before they went to waste. Enter the Ninja PrecisionPro Food Processor! I found this food processor after extensive Amazon searching. I really want to preserve these zucchinis and squashes so I can enjoy my garden harvest all the way through fall and winter.
Here is how I handled it and why this food processor has become one of my favorite kitchen tools.

The Garden Overflow Problem
If you have ever grown zucchini you know exactly what happens in mid to late summer. You go out to the garden and suddenly there is more zucchini than you know what to do with. It is one of gardening’s great abundance problems — wonderful to have, slightly overwhelming to manage.

My solution is to process and freeze as much as possible while it is fresh so I can enjoy it through the colder months. Shredded zucchini freezes beautifully and works in everything from zucchini bread to soups to pasta sauces. The key is having the right tool to process large quantities quickly and efficiently.
The Ninja PrecisionPro Food Processor — My Review
The Ninja PrecisionPro Food Processor has completely changed how I handle large harvest processing tasks. Here is what I love about it:
It is fast. Processing nine cups of zucchini and six cups of Italian squash took a fraction of the time it would have taken by hand or with a box grater. For large volume processing speed matters enormously and the Ninja delivers.
The shredding disc is excellent. I used the shredding disc for all of my zucchini and squash and it shreds to the ideal size for freezing — consistent, uniform, and exactly the texture you want for baking and cooking. Not too fine, not too coarse. Just right.

It is easy to clean. This is the detail that makes or breaks a food processor for me. The Ninja comes apart easily and the components are straightforward to wash. After processing fifteen cups of vegetables cleanup was quick and painless.
The 9 cup capacity is perfect. Large enough to handle serious batch processing without constantly stopping to empty the bowl, but not so large that it is unwieldy or takes up too much counter space.

For any woman who gardens, meal preps, or just wants to make the most of summer produce this food processor is a genuinely excellent investment.
What I Did With My Harvest
Freezing for Fall and Winter Most of my shredded zucchini and squash went straight into freezer bags in measured portions — typically one to two cups per bag which is the right amount for most recipes. Label the bags with the date and contents and they will keep beautifully through the winter. Having frozen shredded zucchini on hand means I can make zucchini bread, add vegetables to soups and pasta sauces, and boost the nutrition of all kinds of dishes even when my garden is buried under two feet of upstate New York snow.

Zucchini Bread Some of the fresh shredded zucchini went straight into zucchini bread and I want to share the recipe I use because it is genuinely wonderful. It is sweetened with honey instead of refined sugar which fits perfectly with my approach to healthy eating as an active woman. The result is a moist flavorful loaf that feels like a treat without the sugar spike.
I use this recipe from Cookie and Kate — one of my favorite food blogs for healthy and delicious recipes: Healthy Zucchini Bread Recipe from Cookie and Kate
It is straightforward, the instructions are clear, and the honey sweetened version is so good you will not miss the refined sugar at all.
Why This Matters for Active Women Over 50
As an active pescatarian who thinks carefully about what I eat I love finding ways to incorporate more vegetables into my diet without a lot of effort. Batch processing and freezing garden vegetables is one of the most practical ways to eat well through the winter months when fresh local produce is limited.
Having a freezer stocked with shredded zucchini means I can boost the nutrition of meals quickly and easily — adding vegetables to morning eggs, boosting pasta sauces, or making a loaf of honey sweetened zucchini bread that feels indulgent but is actually full of good things.
The Ninja food processor makes all of that possible in a fraction of the time. For any active woman who wants to eat well and use her time efficiently it is a kitchen tool worth having.
The Bottom Line
Nine cups of zucchini. Six cups of Italian squash. Processed quickly, shredded perfectly, and ready for the freezer and the oven. I will be so pleased I did this when January comes and I wish I had fresh produce once again.
If your garden is doing what gardens do in August — producing more than you can possibly eat — a good food processor is the tool that turns summer abundance into winter nourishment.
And if you have never made honey sweetened zucchini bread I cannot recommend it enough. Your kitchen will smell amazing and your family will thank you.
