Let’s talk about sunglasses. Specifically the ones that protect your eyes during outdoor workouts without making you look like you are about to compete in the Tour de France.
I have nothing against serious sport sunglasses — they have their place. But as a woman who cares about both performance and style I want sunglasses that do their job AND look great doing it. No wraparound shields. No foam gaskets. Just cute, functional eyewear that I actually want to wear on and off the trail.
These are the sunglasses I own and love, plus a few well reviewed picks that fit the same stylish and functional brief. Check out my list of the best sunglasses for active women.

What to Look for in Sunglasses for Active Women
UV400 protection. This is non-negotiable. UV400 means the lenses block 99-100% of both UVA and UVB rays. Always check for this — it is the standard you want for any sunglasses you wear outdoors regularly.
Polarized lenses. Polarization reduces glare from reflective surfaces like roads, water, and snow. For outdoor workouts polarized lenses reduce eye strain significantly and make your surroundings easier to see clearly.
Fit and stay-put factor. Sunglasses that bounce and slide during a run are a distraction and a frustration. Look for frames with rubber nose pads or temple grips that keep them in place during movement.
Lens coverage. For outdoor workouts you want lenses that are large enough to protect your eyes from sun coming in at angles — not just straight ahead. A larger lens or a wraparound style provides better coverage without sacrificing style.
My Personal Picks
Knockaround Deja Views Polarized Cat Eye Sunglasses These are my most worn sunglasses and I own two pairs — one in bright pink and one in classic black. The cat eye shape is flattering on almost every face shape and the large lenses provide excellent coverage and UV400 protection from every angle. Polarized for real glare reduction and most importantly they do not bounce during a run. At all. Knockaround makes stylish sunglasses at a very accessible price point and the Deja Views are their best in my opinion. Available in a huge range of fun colors.

Best for: Running, outdoor workouts, everyday wear, women who want style and performance

Goodr Circle G Sunglasses Goodr is a brand that takes sport sunglasses seriously without taking themselves too seriously and the Circle G style is my favorite in their lineup. The unique round shape is genuinely distinctive and fun — these are not sunglasses you will see on everyone at the gym. They come in the most entertaining and creative colorways which fits perfectly with my love of bright colors. No slip, no bounce, polarized lenses, and a price point that makes owning multiple pairs completely reasonable. A great choice for women who want personality in their eyewear.

Best for: Running, outdoor workouts, women who want a unique and fun style

Spy Boundless Cat Eye Sunglasses These are my sophisticated pick and I reach for them when I want something that looks as good off the trail as on it. The cat eye shape is flattering and the all black colorway is genuinely elegant — these look like fashion sunglasses that happen to be sport capable, not sport sunglasses trying to look fashionable. Spy makes excellent lenses and the Boundless delivers solid UV protection and optical clarity. A really cool looking pair of sunglasses that elevate any outdoor outfit.

A great all around sunglasses choice for active women who want reliable performance without a dramatic style statement. The kind of sunglasses you reach for every single day without thinking about it.

A Note on Face Shape
Not every frame works for every face shape and it is worth knowing your face shape before investing in sunglasses.
Oval faces are the most versatile and suit almost any frame shape. Lucky you.
Round faces look great in angular or cat eye frames — the Knockaround Deja Views and Spy Boundless are excellent choices.
Square faces are flattered by round or oval frames — the Goodr Circle G is a great option.
Heart shaped faces suit frames that are wider at the top — cat eye styles work beautifully.
When in doubt cat eye frames are incredibly versatile and flattering across most face shapes which is why they show up multiple times on this list.
The Bottom Line
You spend real time outdoors. Your eyes deserve real protection — and there is absolutely no reason that protection cannot be stylish, feminine, and fun.
Find a pair that makes you feel great every time you put them on. That feeling matters more than any technical specification.
