I have been working out with Peloton consistently for over seven years. Not perfectly. Not always enthusiastically. But consistently.
Seven years of showing up, clipping in, and moving my body – through busy weeks, tired days, upstate New York winters, and every season of life in between. And honestly? I do not think the streak is the impressive part. The impressive part is that after seven years I still genuinely want to get on the bike.

It Starts With the Right Equipment
Before we talk mindset let’s talk gear. Having the right setup made a real difference in my Peloton consistency. When your space feels good and your equipment works well showing up is just easier.
The accessories that made the biggest difference for me:
∙ Cycling shoes that clip in properly – I ride in Kyedoo shoes and the difference from sneakers is significant
∙ A TruBlifit fan positioned directly in front of the bike – you will sweat more than you expect on a stationary bike and a good fan makes every ride more comfortable

The Real Secret – Variety
Here is what I think is the actual key to my streak and it is simpler than you might expect.
Peloton has an almost overwhelming variety of content and I use all of it.
Some days I take a long challenging ride with an instructor who pushes me hard. Some days I take a 20 minute easy spin just to move my body. Some days I do an indoor hiking class or a walking workout. Some days I roll out my mat and take a yoga class for my back. And some days – the tired days, the stressed days, the days where everything feels like too much – I take a meditation.
That last one is important. A meditation counts. A ten minute stretch counts. Showing up in whatever way your body needs that day counts.
The mistake most people make is thinking a workout has to be hard to be worth doing. Peloton taught me that consistency beats intensity every single time. Seven years of showing up in whatever way I could beats seven months of crushing it followed by burning out.
My Favorite Instructors
Finding instructors you genuinely connect with is a game changer. These are a few of mine:
Jess King brings an energy and authenticity to her rides that is hard to describe. She is basically glitter in human form – she makes you feel like you can do hard things and somehow makes the hard things fun.
Denis Morton is thoughtful, calm, and genuinely motivating in a way that does not feel forced. His rides have a rhythm and intention that I love, and his music choices are consistently interesting and unexpected – the kind of playlist that makes you look forward to getting on the bike.
Marcel Dinkins is sassy, strong, and one of the most authentic coaches on the platform. Her strength comes through in every run and she has a way of coaching that makes you feel genuinely supported while also pushing you further than you thought you could go.
Those three are just the tip of the instructor iceberg. The beauty of Peloton is that there is an instructor for every mood. High energy days, low energy days, days when you need someone to push you and days when you need someone to encourage you. They are all there.
What to Do on the Hard Days
Every streak has hard days. Days when you do not want to get on the bike. Days when life is busy and the last thing you feel like doing is a workout.
Here is what I do on those days – I give myself permission to do the minimum. A 10 minute ride. A meditation. A gentle stretch. Something that keeps the streak alive without depleting me further.
The rule I live by is simple. Something always beats nothing. Always. Get on the bike, do what you can, and collect that blue dot. Every single one counts.
Once you are on the bike you will almost always do more than you planned. But even if you do not – you showed up. That matters.

Why It Is Worth It
Seven years of consistent Peloton workouts have done things for my fitness that I did not expect. My cardiovascular endurance is strong. My recovery after hard runs is faster. And on the days when upstate New York makes outdoor workouts impossible the bike is always there, ready, reliable, and waiting.
But honestly the biggest benefit is not physical. It is the knowledge that I show up for myself every single day. That I have built a habit so ingrained that skipping feels stranger than going. That feeling – of being someone who consistently takes care of their body – is worth more than any metric on the leaderboard.
